Skin biopsy

A skin biopsy is a procedure performed by doctors to remove a small sample of skin tissue for examination. It is used to diagnose various skin conditions, including skin cancer, infections, and inflammatory diseases. The area is numbed with a local anesthetic, and a small piece of skin is taken using a scalpel or punch tool. The sample is then sent to a lab for analysis, helping doctors determine the best course of treatment. Depending upon the complexity, general physician may refer skin biopsy to a dermatologist.
